SAP BO is intended to make reporting and analysis simple for business users so they can create reports and perform processes such as predictive analytics without needing the input of data analysts. To accomplish this, SAP BO uses a collection of BI tools.
From then on, SAP BW would be named SAP BI for the storage solution, whereas Business Objects would be renamed SAP BO or BOBJ (depending on which side of the Atlantic you are) for data formatting.
This database is used as data source for BI reports to fetch and display the data and used by BO client tools to create interactive reports and dashboards. This database is commonly a Relational database but you can also use other sources like text files, or Online analytical processing (OLAP) systems.
